Multiple Choice Society

What do you want for lunch? What do you want to wear? What should I watch on Tv?

We live in a society that is full of choices. We can make them anytime we want. Each day most of us will be faced with dozens of decisions. Some of the decisions we are required to make are major, others not so much.
As followers of Christ we are no different, we get to make as many or as few choices as we would like. But how many choices does Jesus give us?

Matthew 4: 18-22; 9:9- Jesus only gives his disciples one choice. You follow me or you don't.
In Luke 9:57-62- A potential follower gives stipulations before he follows Jesus. What does Jesus do? He flat out tells the guy that he is not fit to be a follower of the son of God.

Jesus won't concede to us giving him stipulations and He only asks of us to choose. Will you follow me or not?

Lets look at some of the pro's and con's of following Jesus

Pro's: Simplicity (we only have to make one choice)
A bigger reality than we can dream of
A personal relationship with God, creator of the universe, ourselves and everything beautiful and good.
Con's: Ourselves (the things we want)
           Our immediate dreams.

Philippians 3:7-11 tells us that there is surpassing value to what we gain with Christ than what we lose. And if we do lose anything He will replace it with something way bigger and better.

I choose to make the one choice that actually matters: I WILL FOLLOW CHRIST....will you?
